Installing SQL Server 2008 R2 In Windows Server 2012 R2 -
Data Directories tab provides a way for you to customize the path of the data files for your model (or, master) database.
In my case, I set everything as default -
Data root dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server
System database dir (not modifiable): C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Data
User database dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Data
User database log dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Data
Temp DB dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Data
Temp DB log dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Data
Backup dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup
VIII. Analysis Services Configuration
At Account Provisioning tab, add the users as your administrators.
Set everything as default in your Data directories tab.
Data dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Data
Log file dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Log
Temp dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Temp
Backup dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Backup
My preference is not to send Server Error Reports to Microsoft since this is just a lab.
XI. Installation Configuration Rules
This gives a report for the selections you've made. There has to be "Failed 0" and "Warning 0".
This gives you a summary of what are the features to be installed.
Now, click [Install]
Filestream tab.
Filestream handles LOB datatypes (ex. varchar max (2gb)).
Filestream support is declared at the instance level. Then when creating table, you then can assign a column as a filestream wherein it assigns a pointer in each row stored in a file stream file.
I would enable the filestream for future lab tests.
